From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.
